After meeting up with leaders at Denver airport, we drove back to beautiful Estes Park. We were all buzzing with excitement and nerves as we got to know the people who would be our family for three months. The next few days consisted of meetings where we talked about everything from health and safety to cultural sensitivity and meditation.

On the second day of orientation, the team went on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Augie dove into the freezing waters of Emerald lake without hesitation, and a few other brave souls followed suit, but I dipped my feet in and decided that was good enough.

We had to put what we learned in the meditation workshop to good use and go with the flow when Brad told us that our flight to Hong Kong had been canceled because of a typhoon. Luckily, the amazing Alex, who works behind the scenes, was able to coordinate a new flight schedule for us. So, at 5 AM Saturday morning, we stuffed our packs into the cars and set out to the airport for our flight to Chicago.
